Today, the European Commission released its 2027 Work Programme, outlining the main policy initiatives planned for next year. Among these, the Post-2030 energy framework, the Simplification Package and a Clean Heat Market Mechanism are particularly relevant for the bioenergy sector.
Other initiatives include a housing simplification package, a permitting acceleration proposal and a review of nature protection directives. Ongoing legislative files, including the Industrial Accelerator Act, the EU ETS review, and the Public Procurement Act, will also be prioritised.
Importantly, the Commission proposes withdrawing the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive, following the lack of agreement in the Council.
Bioenergy Europe will integrate these developments into its 2027 policy and advocacy planning, ensuring sustainable bioenergy is represented in the upcoming legislative discussions.
